Leesylvania State Park

Perched along the shores of the scenic Potomac River,  this stunning state park was once home to Native American tribes.Today, the park is open for visitors to enjoy with a variety of outdoor activities. Hike along the nature trails or rent a kayak and float on the river. Fish from the pier, swim in cool waters or picnic on the shore. Watch the kids on the playground, grab a bite at the snack bar or check out interesting nature and history programs at the visitor center.


Prices -

 Parking is $4 per vehicle weekdays, $5 per vehicle weekends, $7 per vehicle on holiday weekends.

Hours -

 Open from 6am to a half-hour after sunset, Monday-Friday; 5am to a half-hour after sunset, Saturday-Sunday.

  • What are some things to do at the park?

    This beautiful state park and national historic landmark offers variety of fun outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, swimming, boating, canoeing and kayaking. There are many opportunities for wildlife and bird watching, and kids can play on the playground.
  • Are there picnic areas in the park?

    The park offers four large picnic shelters that can accommodate up to 100 guests each. Picnic shelters can be reserved by calling (703) 730-8205. Smaller groups can enjoy picnicking in park greenspaces or at unoccupied picnic shelters.
